Casablanca was opened by a chef who'd spent years traveling from the Mediterranean across North Africa to the Middle East — and wanted to bring the food and the warmth of those tables home to Osaka. Morning coffee, a long lunch, a glass of wine at sunset: the idea is that whenever you walk in, it feels like you're already home.

Olive oil, lemon, herbs, spice, fire. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking are about letting simple ingredients sing. Shakshuka, shawarma, falafel, mezze, kofta, and tagines — alongside seasonal Japanese produce, cooked the way the regions themselves cook them. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan plates, too.

Kaoru Shibuta
@shibuta_artsBorn in Hokkaido in 1980. Graduated from Pan Make-up School in 2000 and Kanebo Make-up Institute in 2003. Grew up in the magnificent nature of Hokkaido. With an interest in sound, he paints improvisationally and synesthetically based on how sound appears as colors and shapes. He has presented his work at the Espronceda Art Center in Barcelona, Santa Monica Art Museum (CASM), National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Russia (NCCA), ART:1 NEW MUSEUM in Jakarta, European Cultural Centre in Venice, Elisabeth Jones Art Center in Portland, and Takamatsu City Shionoe Museum of Art in Kagawa Prefecture, among others.
